It's sort of amazing how much work a squirrel will do to get into a pumpkin. Interesting too that the work is so symmetric.

The pumpkin was intact when I entered the house at about 12:30 - all this work was done within 45 minutes.

This is what it looked like when I got home. It isn't clear what the motivation for this project was, since there are chunks of pumpkin flesh and seeds scattered over the porch, and there are still a lot of seeds inside. I guess there's only so much pumpkin a squirrel can eat ... or maybe this is more of an art project? Squirrel self-expression ...
