Earlier in the week I took this picture of Mom's japanese maple as it changed colors. It's such a lovely little tree and goes through all kinds of color changes from spring's sweet green through the fiery reds, yellows and oranges shown in the pictures below.

It had been raining and the leaves were falling off. I grabbed a handful of them and took them straight home, spread them out on a piece of black velvet and snapped away.

 

They are so delicate, in some ways they look more like feathers than leaves.
