Yesterday
I made tremendous progress on the path - I took this picture yesterday
evening after having dug out a few more roots and rocks, planting the
last of the landscape ties, and moving a LOT of dirt. |
 |
| Here's
the newly planted landscape lumber, salvaged from the back of the yard and
pretty well worm-eaten. The rocks are also all salvaged from under the path,
in the process of leveling it. Many of them can be used in the landscaping
... some of them will probably end up re-buried. |
 |
| Today
I finished the leveling, which required moving lots of dirt but not as much
as yesterday, and chopping out some more roots, but not as thick as those
from yesterday. I had a little bit of mulch left over, and managed to make
it look like it covers the path. |

The
finished path, facing west. |
|
| It'll
be tricky to make the rocks look "on purpose" back here, but
if I work at it long enough I think I can ... |
 |
| After
all the digging for sewers and water mains all this winter, the street,
alley (mostly), and sidewalk (mostly) are paved ... |
 |
| For
some reason the alley isn't paved all the way to the end, and as residents
drive over the low curb at the end, it is already crumbling away ... |
|
| ...
but they did preserve my little shrubs, and my wonderful rock. The took
the slope, however, so now i'll need to find something to retain the soil
on my yard from falling down onto the alley. |
