Spring
started out
fairly cool
with a bit
of good rain,
so the peonies
were abundant.
This lovely
plant looks
more like
the classic
peonies painted
on Chinese
scrolls, the
white peony
below is less
like that,
but no less
pretty. Well,
maybe a little
less pretty,
but not much
... |
|
| Roselyn's
sister in law
told me she
thought the
peonies had
always been
here - she vaguely
remembers them
from when she
was a small
girl. She lived
with her family
in the house
across the street,
and she's the
same age as
my house. |
 |
| I
got a good deal
on big, blue
glazed pots
and bought eight
of them. Here
they are stacked
on the porch. |
 |
| I've
managed to bring
a few plants
over from the
spare house
on West Road
- epimediums,
hosta (one in
the blue pot
at the end of
the pier), japanese
painted fern,
wild ginger,
and purple irises,
still blooming. |
|
| This
pretty Art Deco
light fixture
hangs in the
entry way -
until now it
has been without
shades. |
|
| I'd
been watching
ebay to see
if these shades
would come up
for sale, and
when they did
I was determined
to get a pair.
I did. In fact,
I was so excited
I got five ...
I'm not sure
what I'll do
with the other
three, but I
can always sell
them to some
other preservationist
looking for
missing slip
shades ... |
