I
first realized
something
was up when
I heard Cora
running up
and down the
stairs ...
from window
to window.
Jake was sitting
on the landing
staring up,
and Cora would
get on the
window sill
and try to
get her paw
between the
screen and
the window
frame ...
I saw that
there was
a dove in
the eavestrough,
and went upstairs
to see it
from the west
bedroom window,
below. |
|
| The
view from the
bedroom window,
nesting dove,
little back
yard, Andy &
Trisha's garage,
a slice of the
neighborhood.
|
 |
| A
close up of
the dove, keeping
one eye on me
when it isn't
on the cats. |
 |
| After
Cora tried to
claw a hole
in the screen
I kept the window
closed. Jake
never does like
to stand on
the window sill,
but even less
so when there's
only 2"
for his paws
... a few days
(weeks?) after
the doves took
up residence
I caught this
scene, Jake
standing against
the window with
his chin on
his paws ...
|
|
| Then
Cora pushed
him aside and
climbed onto
the window -
I didn't manage
to snap a shot
of her trying
to get one of
those back paws
onto the top
of the sash,
but there was
clearly something
interesting
going on up
there ... only
inches from
her nose ... |
 |
| She
stares out the
window, sometimes
chattering her
teeth, sometimes
mewing in a
soft whimper
... |
 |
| She
wants so much
to .... just
touch ... the
nest ... it's
so close ... |
 |
| Exhausted
by wishing,
hoping, and
watching, Cora
sprawled in
the kitchen
window. |
