We're going to a party and we match. Mom made these matching
dresses - and nearly forty years later I can still remember
the lavender color and white, flocked dots ... the stiff tulle
underneath that made the skirts stand out - and the delight
of wearing those little white gloves. The event was a wedding
at Dina and Alex's house. June, probably 1961.
Diane contributes:
"The location I think was the roof of some relatives building,
perhaps Ida's, just before we left for the wedding and I
seem to think that Sophia was the photographer. The triangle
shaped matching scarves were just the right finishing touch
for these perfect dresses. Beautifully edged in gold and
white rick-rack to match the cummerbunds. Mom made the lovely
green corduroy sports jacket [Paul's] too.
I had protested wearing matching black patent leather
shoes because I determined that it was time for me to wear
"heels". We compromised on the white pumps, they had a little
heel that had a special name...Princess pumps???" |
