The
Da Vinci Code
Dan Brown
Diane's review:
I got The Da Vinci
Code for Christmas
from Beth and read
it in two days. It
was a great page turner.
I do not usually like
mysteries but this
one was fun. I usually
got the next clue
about the same time
it was revealed, so
I felt smart and competent.
And then there is
the politics that
appealed to me too.
I gave it to Beth
and she promised it
to David when she
is finished. According
to the news so many
people bought it that
I suspect it makes
more sense to ask
someone local to borrow
it rather than mail
it around.

Drew's review:
This one, I actually
was trapped on an
airplane for hours,
circling Dallas waiting
for thunderstorms
to clear, but didn't
care at all, I was
just reading away.
The ideas raised around
early Christianity
and the end of goddess
worship are very interesting
as well. This book
is one of those thrillers,
but with all the background
information wrapped
around it makes it
seem like maybe it
is all true?

Kay's review:
I'd heard that Sara
and Drew had each
liked this book, and
when I saw our receptionist
reading it I asked
her to put me on her
"borrow"
list. I found it completely
entertaining. I thought
the author was also
using the story as
a soap-box for a discussion
of the ways the catholic
church crushed the
sacred feminine out
of christianity (who
crushed it out of
the other major faiths
wasn't addressed).
Anyway I always like
to hear about goddess
worship and pagan
ceremonies and art,
so I will also recommend
this book wholeheartedly.

Sara's review:
Like the rest of
the family I thought
this was a great read.
I took it on a trip
to Chicago for a ConAgra
Refrigerated Foods
ISO class. I read
some on the way there,
disappointingly didn't
get a chance all week
to read it (the class
started early went
late and had homework
and a quiz every day!)
But I started reading
when I got to O'Hare--the
plane left (I'm not
kidding) 6 hours late---touched
down in RDU at 4:00am
and I cared not one
whit! I was totally
engrossed in this
book! So I recommend
you save it for the
next tedious trip!
